Advocate Spotlight: Katie Moody
Katie Moody tragically lost her father in a natural gas explosion and she has become a tireless advocate in efforts to enact natural gas alarm legislation in Illinois, adding her voice to media interviews and state legislative hearings alike.
“At the time [of the explosion], we had no idea that gas alarms existed. Since the accident, we’ve just made it our goal to spread awareness about gas alarms. It’s such a small cost to prevent what could be such a large loss of life and property.”
Due in part to Katie’s advocacy, the natural gas alarm bill in Illinois has passed the House and will be considered by the Senate soon. By sharing her experience and advocating for stronger safety measures, Katie is helping to protect families across Illinois from similar tragedies.
