Monterey man dies following explosion at residence earlier this week

A 71-year-old Monterey man who was involved in a residential explosion at his residence earlier this week has died from the injuries sustained during the incident, according to a release from the State Fire Marshal.
Authorities the victim succumbed to severe fire-related injuries on Thursday, three days following the Monday, Aug. 3, explosion that injured three occupants inside the home on Ryan Road in Monterey.
The Monterey Fire Department requested assistance from the Office of State Fire Marshal's (SFM) Fire Investigations Unit following the explosion.
Investigators determined the incident was a gas-vapor explosion that occurred inside the residence.
