3 Hospitalized After Gas Leak Causes Grand Prairie Home Explosion

ree

A Grand Prairie neighborhood is left shaken after a home exploded on Saturday.

One neighbor told FOX 4 how he saw the man and his two children in the aftermath of the explosion, and decided to jump into action.

The Grand Prairie Fire Department says that at about 11:30 a.m., there was an explosion at a home on North Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Preliminary evidence leads them to believe it was caused by a gas leak.

Adolfo Angel Rodriguez Rodriguez lives right next door to the house that exploded.

After hearing a boom, he went outside to see what was happening and saw the aftermath of the explosion.

He said the situation was scary, but he and his family went outside to help. He saw his next door neighbors, a father and his two children, on fire.

He immediately called 911 and picked up a hose. He tried to console them, and sprayed other homes to try to stop the fire from spreading as they waited for first responders to arrive.

The fire department says all three were transported to Parkland Hospital with burn injuries.

Our mission is to protect families and neighborhoods by advocating for commonsense safety measures. Together, we are building a culture of prevention, one home at a time.
